We love Scandinavia not only for its beautiful beaches and relaxed hygge lifestyle, but above all for its pioneering role in sustainability. In the fashion sector, Denmark is a shining example of sustainability. In 2020, Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) Sustainability Requirements. These set a minimum standard that all brands represented at the CPHFW must meet. In March 2024, the rules were updated to reflect current developments in the industry and changes in the EU legislation to consider.

Since the standards were implemented, Denmark's largest fashion trade fair, Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, as well as the Norwegian Fashion Hub and Oslo Runway, have already taken over the implementation of the Sustainability Framework - and now another strong international partner, Berlin Fashion Week (BFW), is following suit. The Fashion Council Germany, which coordinates the BFW agenda, has decided to introduce the Sustainability Requirements developed by the CPHFW as a binding criterion for all fashion shows at Berlin Fashion Week from 2026. Through this collaboration, the two platforms are joining forces to advance sustainability efforts in the European fashion markets.

"With the introduction of Sustainability Requirements for Berlin Fashion Week, we are not only committing to higher standards, but also setting a good example in implementing responsible practices. The collaboration offers a significant opportunity to leverage our shared expertise and resources to foster innovation and encourage labels to meet the demands of society and the industry."
