SUSTAINABILITY

For its modern design, Køje counts on a knotless look, characterized by clean lines. The natural and essential oils of pine wood release a special fragrance, which is well-known a a calming and soothing effect.

The wood originates from the Austrian Alpine region, where it is processed in order to ensure short transport routes. The wood comes from sustainable forestry, where it is felled and replanted. It is then processed as a whole. Knots and wood waste are further manufactured into other pieces of furniture, whereas shavings are made into pillows or cloth sacks.

Because of the development of a plug-in connector made from wood, products are free from screws and metals. Køje foregoes packaging waste in the context of delivery: neither the bed, nor the mattress is wrapped in plastic but comes in duffle bags and wooden boxes. The beds are made out of 100% untreated pine wood and are therefore natural and non-toxic.
